Foundation Engineering & Plans

Foundation plans coordinated with your building design and site conditions.

Florida Engineering prepares foundation plans for traditional homes, manufactured and modular homes, container homes and metal building projects. Start with the building you want to support and the site where it will stand.

The right starting point

Plans shaped by the building and the site

A foundation connects the structure above to the ground below. The building layout, supporting loads and site information all help define the engineering scope.

01

Traditional homes

Foundation planning for home construction, with the structural layout and site information considered together.

02

Manufactured & modular homes

Bring manufacturer drawings and installation information so the foundation scope can be coordinated with the proposed home.

03

Container & metal buildings

Foundation plans for these building types begin with the proposed configuration and available building engineering.

Foundation design options

Foundation types for different structural systems

Our foundation design services cover shallow and deep foundation systems for a variety of structures. These systems may support wood-framed, masonry, concrete or steel structures, depending on the project and the engineering evaluation.

Shallow foundations

Shallow foundations transfer loads to supporting ground relatively close to the surface.

Slab foundations

A concrete slab foundation spreads building loads over an area, with edges, thickened sections or other supporting elements designed for the structure.

Ribbon / strip footings

Continuous footings distribute loads along load-bearing walls or lines of closely spaced supports.

Isolated footings

Individual footings spread concentrated loads from columns or posts into supporting ground.

Deep foundations

Deep foundation elements extend below the surface to transfer loads to deeper supporting ground.

Concrete piles

Concrete pile elements transfer loads through resistance along the pile and/or at its tip.

Helical piles

Steel shafts with helical plates transfer loads into supporting soil below the surface.

Timber piles

Timber pile elements transfer loads to deeper ground. Suitability also depends on exposure conditions and durability considerations.

Selection starts with your project

The appropriate foundation depends on the structure, loads, site conditions and available subsurface information. Engineering evaluation determines which system and details are suitable; no foundation type is the right choice for every project.

Prepare your inquiry

What to send our team

Start with what is available. These details help us understand the project and identify missing information.

  • Project address and site survey, if available
  • Building plans, dimensions and proposed use
  • Manufacturer information or metal building reactions
  • Available geotechnical report and site information
From inquiry to defined scope

A practical way to get started

01 / SHARE

Tell us about the project

Send the location, proposed work and available plans.

02 / CLARIFY

Confirm the engineering needs

Discuss the requested documents, missing inputs and coordination responsibilities.

03 / AGREE

Define the next steps

Confirm the scope, deliverables and project schedule before work begins.

Common questions

Before you get started

Do you prepare plans for manufactured and modular homes?

Yes. These home types are included in our foundation plan services, along with traditional, mobile and container homes. The proposed structure and site determine the project scope.

Can the same foundation plan be used on a different site?

A different site or building configuration may change the design basis. Have the engineering team review the new project information before reusing a plan.
